New year, new plans, new me.
Hi, everyone! Today we're going over my New Year's resolutions having to do with reading, writing, and my author platform (a.k.a. this blog).
But first, I'd like to wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR! and mention that if we lived in my WIP novel, the new year wouldn't be starting for many months (until the summer solstice).
My Hiatus' Stats
During my hiatus, I:
I am utterly astounded. 600 of that was when I did a 24-hour reading challenge and vlogged the whole thing. The video will go up on my YouTube channel in a couple weeks!
My goal was to read 70 pages a day during my hiatus. I read an average of 206.25 pages a day. I am just... completely amazed at how much reading I can get done in such a short amount of time. I suppose it does have a lot to do with being on break, though.
Now, onto my goals!
At the end of 2017, I planned to read 20 books in 2018 and thought that was a crazy large amount.
But I read 40.
So this year, my seemingly crazy goal is to read 50 books! Wish me luck! What are your reading goals? Or do you have any?
This is the biggie. On the 29th or 30th, I made a decision. This might be the biggest decision I've made in my life.
2019 will be the year I finish the first draft of a novel, no questions asked.
I've never finished the first draft a novel, but this year, I will. And I have a plan that breaks it into small pieces so I may see it as not being this huge, undoable thing (is "undoable" a word? Well, it is now). There's an A plan and a B plan.
A plan: Write 330 words, on average, every day. This way, I'll have written 80,000 words by the end of August. If that doesn't work, try the B plan.
B plan: Write 220 words, on average, every day. This way, I'll have written 80,000 words by the end of December. If that doesn't work, make it work.
Here is a spreadsheet I'm using to keep track of my writing progress.
Do you have any writing plans of your own? If so, what are they? And do you think I'm likely to complete my goals this year?
Thank you so much for reading, and I'll see you in the next video!
(Post script: But be warned, the end is coming nigh. The time shall be soon that My Mind & I is collapsed and replaced with something better. Stay tuned...)
